Final Portfolio : Team Production roles and understanding my role

My team members and I encountered some struggle while we were deciding on everyone's individual roles for this project. Since I chose the song for the project, I was making constant changes to the plot and and was mostly brainstorming ideas on my own. However, after sitting on call one day to discuss the project, we decided to divide the workload equally. Dua took on the role of being the 'production coordinator', which basically meant she was in charge of scouting for locations, arranging props, bringing equipment and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Raaniya was in charge of scriptwriting, storyboarding and building the narrative. She was also in charge of cinematography along with me.  I was the head of productions. I was in charge of cinematography, acting, directing and producing. I took care of everyone's costumes and makeup, I helped arrange the camera equipment, I contacted most of the people to play extras in the shoot and directed the whole video while i...

Final Portfolio : Problems and Solutions

Problem : My digital camera which was being used to shoot the 'behind the scenes' wasn't fully charged, and kept closing mid way shooting.  Solution : We filmed the behind the scenes on raaniya's phone  Problem : The lighting was compromised as the sun tends to set earlier during the winter.  Solution : We prioritised filming the more important scenes that required natural light earlier than the rest of the scenes.  Problem : Daniyal's pet dog kept running into everybody during filming which distracted a lot of people.  Solution : We kept the dog busy with treats and had someone hold him during the important scenes.

Final Portfolio : Editing

I was in charge of editing the music video. I used iMovie to edit the shots and add special effects to the video. I planned to use capcut or flimora, but it became to complicated for me in the end and so i decided to go with iMovie. The whole process became significantly easy for me and everything ran smoothy.  There were certain moments when we had to reshoot certain scenes as they weren't looking too good in the video while i was editing. Overall, the editing process was quiet fun and i learned a lot through it as well.

Final Portfolio : Budgeting

Image
Before getting started on filming, we had to account on the amount of money we could comfortably spend on this project. Raaniya, Dua and I decided on the budget of 60,000 pkr. This meant that each of us had 20,000 pkr each.  In total everything summed up to be 629,650 pkr,  out of which we only accounted for 23,650, as we only paid for the things we rented and the props. In total we managed to completely stay within our budget and didn't struggle with managing money. We ended up saving a lot of money by asking my friend daniyal if we could film at his house, as other locations were charging a lot of money for renting locations.

Final Portfolio : The Cast

Image
[Left to Right] Ahad Ali Shah, Atlas Butt, Daniyal Mushir, Muhjah Khan, Mishmal Khan, Mahroo Khan,  Zayd Bokhari, Mashaal Junaid  These are all the main actors, the rest of the people in the music video played as extras.  Daniyal Mushir - Love interest  Daniyal played the role of the  protagonist's (me) new love interest. After deciding to move on from her ex at a party, she shows an apparent liking to daniyal's character. The music video shows her spiralling out of control because of her new found obsession with daniyal's character, while he's not really aware of her intense feelings towards him.  Zayd Bokhari - Protagonist's Friend Right at the beginning of the music video we see the protagonist, (me) standing next to Zayd's character. This symbolises a close bond between the two and Zayd appears in other scenes as well which marks him as a significant character in the music video.  Mahroo Khan - Protagonist's Friend  Mahroo's character is esse...

Final Portfolio Planning : Costumes and Makeup

Image
The main focus was on 4 characters in total : Muhjah, Mishmal, Atlas and Daniyal  Muhjah Khan ---> Muhjah - The protagonist (me) had a very neutral look. I was dresses in a simple black dress paired with a pair of black converse shoes. My hair was left straight and my makeup consisted of a natural toned look. I wore glittery eyeshadow on my eyes and an almost nude pink lipstick. This portrays the simplicity of my character and how the sadness from her heartbreak left her wearing something simple and not as attention drawing  There is an almost dramatic change in my look when I'm preforming by myself. This symbolises the change within the protagonist when she begins to catch feelings for someone new. My makeup is more dark and sharp in this scene. My clothes however, are still black. My hair is also more wavy and slightly messy showcasing the emotional turmoil my character is going through.  Mishmal Khan --->  Mishmal is dressed in all black, similar to the prot...

Final Portfolio : Production Schedule and Shooting Days

Image
photos from the shoot  [ Day 1 ] Day 1 : 16th February 2025  [ Farmhouse ] To begin with, the first day of shooting was quiet hectic and stressful. I was mostly in charge of gathering people to play extras in the music video, and so a few days prior to the shoot, I made a group chat on whastapp and added a bunch of people and told my friends to add people they knew to it as well, moreover, dua and raaniya also added a lot of their friends to the group chat. The morning of the shoot I woke up to find out that many people had canceled and couldn't make it, and so I was busy the whole morning, making calls to confirm whether people were coming to the shoot or not.  15 people confirmed that they'd be there, and so I moved on to making arrangements for what we might possibly need at the shoot. I packed a bag with my digital camera, extra makeup, wipes, and bandaids. I then got dressed and waited for dua and raaniya to pick me.  We reached the location at 3:30 pm, a...

Final Portfolio Planning : Location scouting and risk analysis

Image
5TH FEB'25 We decided to scout for some possible locations to shoot our music video. Dua cancelled last minute and so Raaniya and I went together. Our main agendas were to scan the area to see if it could fit 20+ people, if it was weather resistant incase it rained, and the prices of these locations.  First we went to E-11, and checked out 'Anabia's Garden', but since they only had an indoor arena, their management showed us their outdoor padel area.  This area was decent, but they were charging us around 150,000 pkr to shoot for 2 hours, which was way beyond our budget.  The next location we checked out was a restaurant in D-12 called 'Dera Dari', which had a pretty spacious outdoor space. The only downside was that it was quiet far for everyone. Other than that, since it was a public restaurant we couldn't ensure that there wouldn't be random people in our shots. Moreover, they were charging us 70,000 pkr to shoot for 2 hours.  The final location we sc...
