Final Portfolio Planning : Location scouting and risk analysis

We decided to scout for some possible locations to shoot our music video. Dua cancelled last minute and so Raaniya and I went together. Our main agendas were to scan the area to see if it could fit 20+ people, if it was weather resistant incase it rained, and the prices of these locations. 


First we went to E-11, and checked out 'Anabia's Garden', but since they only had an indoor arena, their management showed us their outdoor padel area. 

This area was decent, but they were charging us around 150,000 pkr to shoot for 2 hours, which was way beyond our budget. 























The next location we checked out was a restaurant in D-12 called 'Dera Dari', which had a pretty spacious outdoor space. The only downside was that it was quiet far for everyone. Other than that, since it was a public restaurant we couldn't ensure that there wouldn't be random people in our shots. Moreover, they were charging us 70,000 pkr to shoot for 2 hours. 




















The final location we scouted was the 'Hangout Cafe' in E-11. This place had an overall shady feel to it. It was located in a strange area and it's entrance was very unsafe too. The manager of the cafe told us we could film on their rooftop area, but the rooftop wasn't really big enough to fit 20+ people. Along with that, there were many safety hazards as the rooftop was quiet small and didn't have any railings or structure to ensure nobody fell over. We liked the vibe of this rooftop as it matched the lighting requirements we initially had, and the management was only charging us 25,000 pkr to film for as long as we wanted. However, factoring in the unsafe environment of this location we decided against it. 



































Luckily I thought of asking my friend daniyal if we could film at his farmhouse as it fit our requirements and we'd get to film there for free. He agreed and we made our final decision to film at his farmhouse.

Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
