Final Portfolio : Copyright Precaution

Before getting started with our media project, we wanted to make sure we had everything in order. Which also meant taking the appropriate copyright precautions. We reached out to Tame Impala to ask for permission to use his song for our project.

Final Portfolio : Plot and Genre of the Music Video

PLOT: The idea of our MV revolves around a young teenage girl who becomes infatuated with a boy from her high school, and slowly spirals out out of control, plunging deep into an unhealthy obsession over this boy. She meets this boy at a small private gathering arranged by her friends. As the story unfolds the audience gains insight into why this girl is so deeply infatuated with the young man.  As the MV progresses the protagonist spirals out of control and slowly loses her senses while hysterically breaking down.  The vibrant, bright lights contribute to the hazy and gloomy feel of the song, all while maintaining the feel of the electronic music. There's symbolism as some shots display the protagonist's private moments in her bedroom. The protagonist's insanity is also depicted through his actions and movements. GENRES: - Coming-of-age - Heartbreak - Freedom

FINAL PORTFOLIO : auditions

We decided to hold auditions to scope out some potential candidates to act in our final music video. We designed this poster and put it up inside our school and on our instagram stories. We filmed the auditions on our phones to keep a record of the people who auditioned.

Final portfolio : First discussion with the team

We held our first official group meeting over a whatsapp voice call. We all decided to get on call after school and formally discuss our separate ideas and plans for the shoot. We had some minor disagreements, but we collaborated on our ideas and set some things straight. Raaniya was slightly skeptical about the song I had in mind for the music video, but after thoroughly discussing my plan and my ideas with her, she decided it was a good idea to stick to the song i had in mind. We decided to film our final portfolio's music video on "The Less I Know The Better" by Tame Impala.

For instance, an energetic track would typically feature quick editing and dynamic visuals. Connection between visuals and lyrics : The imagery and setting should align with the song’s lyrics, helping to emphasize its themes and meaning. Intertextuality : Music videos often draw on references from other forms of media, creating additional layers of meaning. For example, Beyoncé’s “Formation” references the cultural and political landscape, including nods to black identity and history through visual symbols like Hurricane Katrina and the Black Panther Party. Record label demands : The artist’s label may have specific requirements to ensure the video remains consistent with the artist’s b...
