Final Portfolio : The Cast

These are all the main actors, the rest of the people in the music video played as extras. 


Daniyal Mushir - Love interest 

Daniyal played the role of the  protagonist's (me) new love interest. After deciding to move on from her ex at a party, she shows an apparent liking to daniyal's character. The music video shows her spiralling out of control because of her new found obsession with daniyal's character, while he's not really aware of her intense feelings towards him. 
Zayd Bokhari - Protagonist's Friend

Right at the beginning of the music video we see the protagonist, (me) standing next to Zayd's character. This symbolises a close bond between the two and Zayd appears in other scenes as well which marks him as a significant character in the music video. 
Mahroo Khan - Protagonist's Friend 

Mahroo's character is essentially important as she persuades the protagonist, (me) to try her luck with daniyal's character. She's pushing the protagonist to move on from her ex and to not sulk about seeing him with another girl. Mahroo's character is mainly one of the important ones as she urges the protagonist to go talk to daniyal's character, which later unravels a whole new series of events, eventually leading 
up to the protagonist's mental breakdown.


Mishmal Khan : Ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend [Protagonist's foil] 

Mishmal's character isn't necessarily the antagonist, but she does have a rather distressing role. She's a source of distress and insecurity for the protagonist, but doesn't really seem to realise it. The black dress symbolises similarities between her and the protagonist, making her an efficient foil. 


Atlas Butt - The Ex-Boyfriend

Atlas plays the role of the protagonist's ex-boyfriend. He's shown to be interested in mishmal's character, however is shown to still be interested in his ex. This is noticeable in one of the scenes where mishmal's character is talking to him but he's busy staring at his ex talk to her new love interest. Him and daniyal's characters are each other's foils, as both of them were romantically associated to the protagonist at some point. 


Muhjah Khan - The Protagonist 

I played the protagonist. My character was shown to be going through a lot of emotional turmoil over the course of this music video because of her unhealthy obsessions with her lovers. My character is shown to be hung over her ex, (atlas' character) but she seems to move on to daniyal's character and becomes deeply infatuated with him. She also secretly obsesses over him and spirals out of control towards the end of the video.

Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
