 Why "She" is my favorite 


"She" by Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean is my favorite music video because it perfectly blends unique music, storytelling, and cinematography to create a hypnotic experience. The song’s mix of R&B and hip-hop sets a smooth but unsettling tone that matches the video’s mysterious vibe. Tyler’s verses are intense and obsessive, while Frank Ocean’s vocals bring a calming contrast, creating a perfect balance between chaos and serenity.

The cinematography is what makes the video feel like a short indie film. The use of lighting, with dark shadows and neon pops of green and orange, gives it a dreamlike quality that’s both eerie and beautiful. The suburban neighbourhood setting feels ordinary at first but quickly becomes unsettling, thanks to the way the camera captures it. Close-up shots of Tyler’s masked face make his obsession feel personal and intense, while wide shots of the empty streets add a sense of isolation and unease.

The storytelling is dark yet strangely humorous, creating a mix of emotions for the viewer. Tyler’s character is stalking a girl, and while his actions are creepy, the video’s awkward and funny moments—like when he hides in her closet while still rapping—make it hard to fully hate him. Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
