Final Portfolio : Team Production roles and understanding my role

My team members and I encountered some struggle while we were deciding on everyone's individual roles for this project. Since I chose the song for the project, I was making constant changes to the plot and and was mostly brainstorming ideas on my own. However, after sitting on call one day to discuss the project, we decided to divide the workload equally. Dua took on the role of being the 'production coordinator', which basically meant she was in charge of scouting for locations, arranging props, bringing equipment and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Raaniya was in charge of scriptwriting, storyboarding and building the narrative. She was also in charge of cinematography along with me. 

I was the head of productions. I was in charge of cinematography, acting, directing and producing. I took care of everyone's costumes and makeup, I helped arrange the camera equipment, I contacted most of the people to play extras in the shoot and directed the whole video while it was being shot. I also shot all the scenes in the video which didn't include me, the rest were shot my Raaniya as they had me in them. My role entailed of making sure Raaniya and Dua completely understood their parts and that they had an absolute clear understanding of what the plot entailed of so there wasn't any confusion during filming. Moreover, I was acting as the protagonist in this video, which meant I had to both act and direct simultaneously. 

This division of work helped us each understand our roles and prevented further struggles and mishaps. This also ensured smooth sailing as we didn't encounter many problems after thoroughly discussing this matter.

Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
