I decided to do a website analysis on Doja Cat's website because of her dark, 'dream-core' aesthetic and because I personally really like her music. Her aesthetic often incorporates moody visuals, edgy fashion, and surreal elements. This side of her style can include gothic-inspired looks, provocative imagery, highlighting a more introspective and complex side of her artistry. It evokes a sense of intrigue in her audiences as it heavily contrasts with her more playful persona. 


Visual Design & Aesthetic :

  • Doja Cat’s website features soft colors, dynamic visuals, and playful typography, mirroring her eclectic and vibrant artistic persona. The design aligns with her brand by using striking imagery and graphics that reflect her unique style, incorporating elements from her music videos and album art. This cohesive aesthetic helps create an immersive experience that gives audiences and viewers an idea of who Doja Cat is.

Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
