Preliminary task #1: SHOOT

 My group and I decided to film at a location in school, as it was convenient for everyone. We chose to film in the principle’s office as it fit the criteria for the location we needed. We decided on a time of day that worked for all 3 of us, as all of us have very busy schedules with overlapping classes. We decided to film during one of our free periods and we only had the margin of 50 minutes to film.

My group members and I all acted in the music video, but i played to role of the protagonist, which meant i wasn’t really filming anything. I brought my digital video camera to school to film with. I explained the main settings of the camera to Raaniya and Dua and gave them general camera directions when needed. My camera unfortunately died mid shoot (I really should’ve charged it the night before) and because of that, we had to film on my iPhone. 

We had a lot of fun with the entire filming process, even though we kept messing up. The weather was quiet hot and so we tried to get done with filming as soon as possible.

Final Portfolio : Personal Contribution

Right from the beginning of this project, I took on most of the responsibilities. I was heading the production and was in charge of constructing most of the narrative. Firstly, I chose the song for the music video pitched the idea to Dua and Raaniya, after they both agreed, i got started on building up the plot. I wanted the storyline to have a twist and so i started brainstorming for ideas. After deciding when to film and deciding on a location to film, I made a group chat with 35 people. I sent a formal message on the group chat asking everyone who was available to join in and help me and my team out in this project. 15-17 people got back to me and confirmed that they'd be there. I then shortlisted everyone, and contacted one of my friends to rent their camera. I also rented a gimbal as well. Preliminary Task #1 : Music Video

  Our music video was on the song “Ikisvi Sadi” by ‘Biryani Brothers’, a Pakistani band formed by Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha in 2014. We chose this song as it’s a representation of Pakistani culture and language.  PLOT : The music video starts of with the actor, Muhjah (me) singing along to the lyrics, explaining how she feels like nobody understands her. There’s shots of me completely alone in a room, laying down on a sofa, looking out the window and sitting on a chair. Then we introduced the other character, Dua, who is basically my hallucination. Raaniya plays the roll of my mother. We show her scolding me and trying to explain something to me.
